The rise of the three kingdoms: The kingdom of Light

The Angel opened his eyes in his giant eagle-like form and saw that the world regained its colours. He looked upon the horizon and saw the lands. It was a cloudless day around noon, he was standing at the top of the highest mountain. He could see from the middle to the right, were the 2 greatest rivers converged, a vast land covered by a black rotting soil, grey clouds that seemed to disperse as soon as the got out of that territory and swamps that were once blue lakes, rotten . To the left, was were the dragon fell, a huge area destroyed by the rain of fire, sharp mountains rised, and even though some of those mountains were constantly spitting fire there was a dense forest taking over every spot that wasn't filled with lava. Even those rocky parts. Around the mountain were he was standing there was wide open plains with a very green grass up to a small much greener forest that surrounded the plains. He of course liked this side. It had more variety of colours. It looked more alive. All this three areas where separated by two converging huge rivers and in the middle was a big delta that marked the center of the lands.

Then he realized that where he was standing a few meters away were some weird shaped stones, they weren't very natural and he never saw stones like that. When he looked closer to one of those stones he saw his shape on the stone, his heart stopped for a moment. How? What? Stones aren't supposed to change shape. What was that? There were a lot of stones with his shape. Some were identical some had his atributtes in a sort of exagerated way. But it was him. Something must have done this. He was sure rocks don't change shape.

He spread his wings and went down the mountain. Soon he saw a human village at the bottom of the mountain. They had this weird houses and smoke came out in some of those houses. He couldn't understand. How could they do that? How much time was he meditating?

He landed in the middle of the village. People started gathering as soon as he landed. They were looking at him with big eyes. They yelled calling more of them. Everyone gathered in the center of the village and remained silent for a couple of seconds. The vowed chanting some sort of ritual. He didn't understand anything but they didn't seem aggresive. They looked amazed by him. Then, from the weirdest of the huts came out a very old man. White long hair, skinny, he had a lot of shinny colourful things around his neck and arms, me moved slowly towards him, with a long walking stick with even more things that made noise in every step he took. He approached and looked at him.

Old man: "You are our savior, the messenger of God"

Yet he did not move his lips.

The Angel: "How come you can talk to me?"
Old Man: "I can read souls, and yours is a very loud and powerful one. I read how you saved us. I heard your prayers. We owe you"
The Angel: "Fool. You owe me nothing. It was because of me that life in this planet was threaten"
Old Man: "I know. But still you saved us. Even if it was from yourself. Your love and misericordy for this world is what proves that you were sent by the Great One"

The Angel stood there staring at the people and the old man. These people. They recognized his work. They forgave his mistake. They loved him. He didn't feel this from any other creature. Except for his wings and eyes, that he liked very much, he took the shape of a human. Short blond hair, fit and young, caucasian and a bit taller than the ones in the village. He kept that shape to live among the humans and learn from them. And the humans learnt from him. Learning concepts was his favorite. Honor, justice, devotion, among others were the ones that made him feel at peace. Other concepts like hate, malice, egoism he wasn't agree but he knew those would never cease existing. He thought it would be better for those kind of feelings to be reduced as much as people can so peace could last longer.

Once he learnt he taught. Specially to the kids. So they could grow into adults that serve the peace in those lands.

Among the villages in that side of the delta war and combat was reduced. People were unified by the adoration to this winged Mesiah. From time to time the Angel went to meditate to the mountain peek where he always meditated. People slowly gathered near him. They built a huge city first around the bottom of the mountain, and then as the space was less they city grew to the top of the mountain. They built the city with the colors that surrounded the mountain. Living green at the bottom and very snow white colour at the top. Where the angel prayed at the very top of the mountain there was a big temple with a long pointy roof that served as a solar clock in adoration for the favor the Angel did for the living. It represented the love for the Sun and the time the Angel was giving to them by maintaining it alive. Near the mountain where the soil was more rich farms covered the land.

They had almost no enemies. Except for some thief guilds or roaming barbarians from far away lands. Security was important. Soon appeared knights and paladins congregations that served the kingdom in order to maintain the peace. They were the finest examples of the Angel's teachings. Then above them there were the elders. The ones that were able to talk directly with the Angel and comprehend more accurately the Angel's teachings.

As expected, he soon was leader. Not because he desired it but because they desired it. He accepted only because he thought he could unite the people and conflicts will be reduced. He was the lord of the kingdom of light, were the living green surrounded the green and white city that reached the skies. On the top, inside the the temple was his throne. The throne of heaven where he meditated and ruled one third of the lands.

Men and Plague

At the end of the endless winter, all the giant creatures were extinct or near extinction. With all those harsh eras, brute force was dominated by flexibility. The creatures able to adapt to survive took over the devastated planet.

Inside this creatures one was superior. They were the top of evolution in terms of flexibility and survival. Men made their appearance over the planet surface. With almost no fur to protect their weak body they managed to be warm with other animals' skin. No claws, horns or fangs they hunted the unkillable mamuths. They were born so defenseless and useless they didnt even know how to feed themselves. But their physical weakness was a need for the balance. Their strenght was from their soul. Their mind maintained a thin line of conection with Nothing. At the beggining it was almost invisible even for the three.

That conection gave humans the ability to extract from Nothing new concepts, ideas, functions, feelings. And they used this skill to control. The same as the three but a bit more naive and less powerful their hands were able to give form to their enviroment. Their power was, not to change themselves in order to survive, but to make everything around them flexible to them.

A dangerous sabertooth tiger became their spear. The shielding skin of the mamuth became their skin and house. And as time passed, they learned. Plants grew were they wanted and some animals served them as meat and mobility. They killed whatever opposed their survival. Even themselves. This was very amusing for the Death. That was the first noticing them.

But it was until the time he saw a man killing another man on a corn field that he could appreciate the humans as a superior being. They were harvesting the corn around the sunset time. Both worked hard. That year was a difficult because rain wasn't very gentle with their crops. Both looked pale and skinny, like they haven't eaten for days. They were walking to their hut when one started complaining about the distribution of the harvest. He said that because he had a family he should have more than him. The other man argumented that they both made the same effort so they should split it even. The discussion went for around an hour. Then the first man said ok and they continued walking. The first man was walking behind looking and the second man. He was mumbling. He was angered. His eyes went from one side to the other and then back to that man's neck. Then his lips stopped moving and he stood still with the head down. He let his bags of corn fall into the floor and took the scythe that was on his back with both hands. His teeth were grinning and some tears went out. He yelled and cut the man's head and one arm with one clean cut. The corpse fell down and the blood moved silently on the ground. Complete silence. The face of the man became cold and serious looking down to the corpse. For about twenty seconds he stood there without moving. Then he fell down into his knees and started crying. His tears were different now. His crying got louder and louder while more tears covered his face. When his eyes became all red he took his scythe and put it into his neck. Then he fell into the floor lifeless next to his younger brother.

The Death came near the scene in his bird-like form, a mix of a crow and a buzzard, with his eyes sparkling. His awe for this death was incredible. It was not just something stop being alive, it was like some sort of art. All the feeling, the history behind it, the way it was done. He felt love for this moment, for their nature, for their potential. It was beautiful.

He took the form of the killer, covered by a black hollow robe. He took the scythe and made it part of himself. It was his way of aplause. It was magnificent. Never seen. If he knew humans were like this he probably would have been watching them earlier.

He took his new shape and went looking for new kinds of deaths inside the humans.

Looking more like a living being than a shadow the Death didn't notice his old soul targeting this planet for a bit of experimental fun. The Universal Death, caring nothing about if the state of matter was alive or dead, created this hybrid not living nor dead invisible thing. One virus.

It came from far away, silently entered the living planet's atmosphere. It could kill, create and move. Just like a living creature. It transformed and multiplied just like a living creature. But killing was what it was designed for.

With no needs, thoughts or any kind of will except for the death itself it spread around the planet.

At that time, the Death usually spoke to humans. He enjoyed tales of death. The planet wasn't very populated. Villages were scattered around the world very far from each other. The Death was always at the nearest funerals watching the ritual that humans offered somehow to him. He asked about how they died. Some stories where fun others were boring. In those times, his face was of a young man that didn't had much sleep. Pale. But not freightening. So he could talk to anyone without having any problems.

This virus soon spread. He found soon that the stories began to be the same again and again. A curse that consumed the flesh leaving nothing but bones. This was boring. Why the same story over and over again? This wasn't amusing. And the fact that everyone died was even worst. What will there be left to die if everyone dies? This was not good. Not at all.

Immersed in his thoughts he heard the whisper of the Infite Death laughing about some amazing thing he created. He knew now. This was his own doing. But he didn't want that. Not fun. This world was full of colourful deaths, he didn't want to lose that. He had to undo his sadistic creation.

He didn't have much time. His love for this world inspired him. He connected with his shapeless self borrowing just a bit of power. It was hard for him since long long time ago he was lost wandering in this planet's surface without connecting with himself. On the top of a small hill on a small village's cemetery, standing over a tree's shadow he started losing his physical shape. He slowly melted with the tree's shadow.

And soft breeze moved the tree's leafs. The tree's shadow became black as a starless space. In a instant the shadow burst into all directions connecting with all the shadows making them as dark as him. From outspace you could see the planet become darker. Even the white clouds were blackening.

Once the Death took over the shadows of the world, he expanded over all the surfaces. The planet became entirely black disappearing from sight. For around a minute, the planet stood in silence. Then, even faster than he expanded, his shadow form that took over the world began to retract to the point he was standing at the beggining. All the shadow focused in one small point then exploded in a thousand kilometers radius. Every living thing inside the explosion died instantly. Even the ground seemed dead, with a dry black colour. The clouds that entered that area became painfully dark gray screaming thunder as they tried to move out of that place.

The human form of the Death appeared again in the center of the devastated area. He succesfully comsumed all the virus. His flesh rot and then was consumed. Having all the virus that spread over the planet inside him, he learnt how to kill it. He took the same virus and modified it to a virus-eating-virus version of it. He hold both virus and anti-virus inside him until the quantity was equally balanced. Then he collapsed releasing both again into the planet. Most of it remained on his body making him unable to reproduce living tissues. He became a skeleton shadow with a scythe. Without energy, in a silent pain, he stood still next to the dead tree in what was once a village's cemetery.

To the rest of the living it was matter of their own will to live that made them win the battle against the virus inside them.

Hundred of years passed. The mere presence of the three affected everything around were they stood still. And they awoke at the same time to see that. Humans gathered around of what each of them thought was their savior.

Evolution through imperfection

This new entities of the three great souls were made from them but their body and attachment to this planet made them different to their former omnipresent being. They possessed unlimited existance but their power to do was limited by their own containers. As the time passed evolution did not only affect living beings but also affected the appearance of the three. During the time when all the living were under water, after they became huge creatures, the Angel looked like a light-made fish not very big. It was common for other sea creatures to follow him everywhere attracted by that light. The Death was just big bubble of darkness, he could not stop being a shadow because he was made of that. But the shadow, just has the projected body still can take innumerable forms. Often confused by the sea bottom fishes wandered inside him, dying as they touched him. The Dragon, the most arrogant of them three, was ten times bigger than the Death, kilometers long, with sharp teeth like mountains inside his fiery face, he moved imponent inside the vast sea. Even thou he didn't need to feed he hungered, he devoured everything, from small fishes to small islands. Everything that crossed his enormous mouth was eaten. Yet a lot of creatures were attracted by his strenght and power. The strongest followed him.

Some creatures, as time passed, evolved inspired by the essence of them, taking caracteristics from them. Others just made their own way.

Even though this planet had three powerful entities living among them, life never took a step back. They continued to perfect themselves as time taught them about the Universe and what it contained. Life continued even though three times all existence of life there was threatened by three mistakes each of them made.

The first mistake was done by the arrogant one, being too busy shapeshifting trying to find a more powerful form, forgot to alert his Universal-self about his own meteor approaching. Well, normally he didn't need to do that because the planet had its own way of defending itself from meteors, sometimes this makes me think how alive seems to be this planet due to the life inside it. But, unfortunately, this meteor was way too fast and way to big for the planet to stop it. By the time the Dragon noticed the meteor was already a flaming ball of chaos ready to pierce through the planet's core and releasing all the molten blood that the planet was made of, just like the dragon wished for in his godly form.

The Death noticed this at the same time but he didn't have the time to calculate how to kill that before it crushed. The Angel couldn't not imagine what to create so it would not destroy all. The Angel and the Death weren't very impulsive as the Dragon that, moved by the rage of his own mistake, spread his wings and ignited his mouth flying directly forward to the meteor. You could see both of them going against each other at full speed, flames and rage combusted in their front leaving a thin trail of smoke behind them. They looked like the same being defied by himself. Both of them did not startled at any point. They both moved against each other like there was no other way. When they reached each other all that fire inside the Dragon focused on one powerful almost endless beam of fire even hotter than the hellish fire surrounding the meteor that pierced it's center. You could see that beam going out of the sky into the inifte space. Even the Angel and the Death were amazed by the Dragon's power. The meteors core was melted. Yet, it didnt stop. Like nothing happend it continued raging against the planet's surface. Not the meteor nor the Dragon would give up. Both were made of fire. Fire never gives up. The Dragon with all his fire temporarily exhausted, retracted his wings and went inside the hole made by himself. It took around two long seconds to reach the middle of that huge mass of iron, earth and fire. After those two seconds passed, the meteor cracked and exploded in a huge cloud of fire and stone. For a second everyone saw the silhouette of the Dragon spreading his wings in the center of the explosion, and heard a mighty victory roar that filled their hearts with fear and admiration. After that, he felt to the ground. And with him a rain of fire that devastated an gigantic area, lifting dust and ash that devoured the planet's surface asfixiating almost all living beings.

All those mighty great lizards the Dragon was so proud of, those who praised the Dragon's mighty strenght, that evolved based on the Dragon's look were gone. Not one survived that holocaust. The first that came because of them. Because of their imperfections. Because of their needs created by the possession of a body.

The next mistake was made by the Angel. His love and distraction for the colors of the world. Flowers, birds, insects, and his own beauty made him drift away too much in this planet that he did not notice that the star near the planet was coming to its end. Slowly, the planet's temperature dropped down. Everything became ice. Life that had lived in that tropical paradise planet couldn't adapt fast enough to the changing temperature. The ice age came, from vanity all the colour of the world disappeared, leaving a white, shiny, cold and lonely planet. Now he had all the mirrors he always wanted in every ice wall. There was not much time left for the life in the planet. He knew long time ago that the ability for contacting with the soul he was once part of was long lost. He still had his own power given by the Universal Angel but, he never tried to revive a dying star. With this small body it was really hard to tell what will the outcome be. His battle for preserving the life of the planet was as flashy and visible has the one of the Dragon, but it was as important and hard as that. With his present form, the one of a giant eagle with blue eyes and silver white shiny feathers, flew to the top of the highest mountain to be in direct sight of the dying star and started meditating. It took hundreds of years before he could manage to stop the star's cooldown and starting raising its temperature again. Unfortunately with his current power he wasn't able to mantain that star's temperature for long. So he must focus and meditate from time to time so that star mantains creating the light that all living beings needed to continue living.

So because of he couldn't stop admiring the planet's beauty, every year, after the colour full Spring comes the planet goes back for sometime to that white state called Winter, all because the Angel's love for beauty stops him from meditating.

The Dragon laid dormant for centuries exhausted.

The Angel prayed almost everyday from winter to summer.

Then during the dawn of men. The third, the Death himself, brought his imperfections to surface.

Below their eyes

"Li...fe... Life? Life! Life..." was whispered around the Universe within their thoughts. They could not comprehend yet they knew that sometime, somewhere it would exist. Because they knew what was inside of Everything and Nothing. It must be the tip of the piramid they thought, the smallest part based on everything else. But they weren't so powerful. It wasn't threatening. The Angel, the Death and the Dragon ruled the entire Universe.

If he wished, the Angel could add some degrees to that planet's star and evaporate them, but he just wasn't made for destruction.

If he wished, the Dragon could just move the planet a bit so it would perfectly collide with another planet and smash everything inside, but he was too busy watching the weird random new movement they made, totally unpredictable and never seen. It was just too beautiful he could not stop staring.

If he wished, the Death just by wishing could make them all go back outside the flow of time and space, but that was senseless, not logical, so why doing it?

So with this perfect conditions, life continued. Naturally, the more evolved things were the faster they kept evolving. For some energy to become some matter it took time that even for those three was not worth waiting. The matter to fuse into something else took special conditions and time. Much less time than the energy. And as the matter fused and changed less time it took for it to take the next step. Thats why life just within a couple of measurable billion of years became something more than just some auto-assembling molecules they once saw.

They just could not keep track of the changes within this living planet because they were so fast that one blink meant encountering a complete changed planet with totally new colors and form.

All the three of them decided to take a more specific form inside this planet. So they could have a better view of all the changes that were so fast and amusing that they couldn't stop paying attention. Even though they continued to exist everywhere, they focused their existence inside this planet. They took a form. They incarnated.

At the beginning, when life was just cells moving and eating each other or processing light to keep them alive, the Angel took the form of a brilliant spark of white shiny light that wandered around the planet watching every detail, every texture, every component created. How one became two totally new and different things yet they seemed the same. He just couldn't do that. The creator wasn't able to create himself. Yet this things could create themselves. Just imposible.

The Dragon became as them, because he was more in touch with the Universe itself he could easily imitate their form. More than difficulty, he prefered it because it was more real. Not just a concept made of Nothing or a pure image of a body made of Everything. His form was always stronger and more intimidating that the ones living at that time. Even for a cell he already left clear that his body was of a inmortal almost omnipotent soul. He had their kind of body yet he wasn't able to multiply either. He was always him only. Besides his interest wasn't life creation at all, it was the movement, the changes, this creatures were able not only to change their structure but the structure of their surroundings. They created balance and chaos at the same time. With their own will, their own movement. So he lived among them. Watching and learning.

The Death was an untouchable shadow moving around the surfaces. A black spot moving around and stopping for a while just to watch with a grim curiosity how a living being consumed another. How one life lost his soul after a small time passed and it just ceased to exist, with no real reason but the flow of time. And the best of all, he didn't have to do anything for this to happen. It was like a movie of what he was made to do, he could see what he must usually do in front of his eyes yet he wasn't doing it. Unreal and amusing.

Time, slowed by smaller definitions and capabilities, passed slower making them able to watch and enjoy more carefully this last step of change taking even more steps forward at an unimaginable speed.

They shared time with this living world, and this representations of something greater became more and more attached to this living planet. Never bored. Living, you may, say among them, learning.

Time slowed down from billions to millions, from millions to thousands, and so on...

Within this time, events were many. But inside all this events there were some that were, at my point of view, the most relevant. That would explain the changes and nature of these three souls.

When the three souls incarnated they agreed without words in one thing. They came to watch. No decision shall be made by them. They should not interfere.

But the attachment had consequences. The limits, the rules of this living planets became part of their body and soul. They were made from themselves but they weren't themselves either.

This existing and changing rules in this living planet were the base of what became a complex and ever changing game. And what's a game with no players? What's a player that does not play? An observer.

What made this three powerful observers become players? Well, that was right after the end of the thought: "I see and know this is like this, but what happens if I...".

Yes. Existence confirmation. The ultimate goal of every conscious being. They knew. They knew their own existence. But now, they had the chance to confirm it. And, slowly, the shadow of their hands started covering the surface of the planet.

In the spring of time

When time reached zero, time began to flow inside space. As expected, everything inside that huge powerful flow started moving as well. Everything and Nothing moved inside and outside space. Things inside space moved and transformed. These effects had their own soul created (you may say) at the beggining of time. The Death, the Angel and the Dragon, as i called it, were those souls.

The Angel was the one that took something from Everything and something from Nothing, mix it together and throw it inside the flow of time inside space. He was the creator. He was an existence of the Universe but he had a tendency to make things exist thats why you may say he was more a being of the Everything.

The Death was his opposite. He was the destroyer. He was the one that took something and separated its body from its soul, throwing them back to Everything and Nothing. He was in charge of the ceasing of existence. He existed, yet he was a being with a tendency for Nothing.

The Dragon, the one that takes the things created by the Angel and moves it across the timeline all the way up to the end where the Death takes them back to where they came. He had an equal tendency for Everything and Nothing, he was the balance between them. Unlike the Death and the Angel his existence was created when time reached zero. Because before time and space there was no middle point. He was the balance. But ironically he was the only one that created chaos in the Universe. Specially during the creation of the Universe he pushed stars, made them explode, throw planets against each other, compress and disperse light everywhere. Explosions, transformations, crashes, everything moving and mixing, at the beggining it was very chaotic, full of energy everywhere, something that could burn your eyes even if you saw it from very far away.

So time passed and things changed a lot, specially when the Dragon wasn't around, they merged together forming more complex and intrincated things. The elements inside things stop being the same with a potencial of infite combinations.

Incalculable time passed and the chaotic sight of the Universe became a more silent and balanced sight. As expected, everything inside the Universe seized balance within themselves, because the Universe is the balance of Everything and Nothing, everything inside seeks balance.

Within this Universe the souls that became more complex evolved and transformed, and in a point within the Universe. As small as the chance that it ocurred the most complex of all things appeared. Inside this round piece of insignificance life appeared.

As the first life form split in two taking a new soul from Nothing and a new body from Everything all by itself, as it moved around with free will, as it devoured and consumed another life form destroying the soul and body, the Angel inside the nearest star, the Dragon inside the gravity of that planet and the Death within the darkness of space felt this imposible chance ocurr and turned around with and omnipresent eye gazing with eager curiousity of the most improbable act of all things. A thing able to render them useless.

So they watched. With eyes wide open. Expectant.

T -1

When Everything was Nothing, nothing happend. Thats why time didn't exist. And Nothing was Everything at the same time, so there was no space for anything. Until the first event happend. Everything separates from Nothing.

Can you imagine Everything in one thought? In one billion thoughts? Everything is endless. Thats why you can't.

But maybe you think, well at least i can imagine Nothing. Are you imagining a dark black space? A dark black space is something. And because it is, it can't be nothing. Nothing does not exist. Its zero. Since your head is full of stuff you can't have nothing inside you head. Not while you are still alive...

So, just for representation I imagine this separation like an endless mass of light in one side and one infite mass of dark dead blackness on the other side. Everything, the big mass of light, contained everything that ever existed or that will exist. So did Nothing, it contained everything that still wasn't and what it ceased to exist. Both were the opposite and the same. And in the perfectly exact middle of them there was a thin line separating them, fusing them, where both were present yet it wasn't one nor the other. That line was the space.

In that space, things happend and stop happening. Things existed and ceased to exist. The flow of time took things from both Everything and Nothing and put them in there. And took thing from there and put them into Everything and Nothing. That infite line was the Universe. Inside both where there. Things you can feel, measure and see, that were made of Everything and things that were made of Nothing. Thoughts, ideas, knowledge, souls...

Even thou the things inside the universe were very different, all of them were made with both Everything and Nothing. To put it in other words, everything had a body and a soul. Every rock, every ray of light, everything with life or without it had a soul.

Your finger has its own soul. Wait. Why? Its quite simple. You are not one thing. You are made of a lot of things. You are not one thing alive but a complex set of living things working together, what you call your soul is the same, a complex union of millions of souls working together. Souls are not the same. The soul inside a grain of sand is not as a complex as the soul of a star. And the more complex the soul becomes the more complex the body is. And the more complex the soul is the awareness also is higher.

Some souls become aware that they have a body, some others become aware of purposes and needs, and at the higher states they even become aware of their own existence...
